Loureiro was contracted to provide the design for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the renovation of the former Greenwoods Theater in Norfolk Connecticut. The renovation of this 1883 classic was a major undertaking. Today, the popular 300 seat club showcases popular music of all genres and features well-known artists.

The project presented some unique challenges, including:

  • The age of the structure imposed constraints on the layout of new HVAC equipment and routing of ductwork.
  • The small venue and limited interior mechanical spaces made acoustical design considerations of primary importance.
  • The facility was located on a landlocked site, which posed another set of exterior limitations on the MEP systems.

Loureiro’s talented team of engineers designed the upgrade of the plumbing, electrical and heating systems, as well as adding substantial heating and cooling capacity to this 1800s-era gem. Designs included all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for both the second floor performance hall, as well as a new bar/restaurant that was constructed with a state of the art kitchen on the lower level.
