Loureiro was the prime contractor for the installation of a new sewer main and laterals for a residential neighborhood known as Highgate Lane off of Mountain Road in West Hartford, CT. This neighborhood had originally been built using septic systems. Over the years the systems had failed and needed to be replaced. The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) awarded Loureiro a contract to install nearly 2,500 linear feet of sewer main, over 750 linear feet of sewer laterals, and 17 sanitary manholes.

Highlights

  • The sewer main was installed in Mountain Road which is a very active roadway that required constant maintenance and protection of traffic.
  • Highgate Lane itself is a very narrow cul-de-sac that not only required maintenance and protection of traffic but also temporary road closures and coordination with the residents to maintain access to their properties for both themselves and emergency vehicles.
  • Installation of the sewer main and laterals was over 16 feet deep and required the use of trench and manhole boxes.
  • The project also included both full depth pavement restoration and overlaying of the roadways.
