Voltarc produced lamp
bulbs which required specialty coatings applied to the glass surface.
The coatings were prepared in a solvent base which contained regulated
volatile organic compounds (VOC’S).
The Clean Air Act (CAA) and Connecticut Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP) regulations established limits on the emissions
from these types of processes that control the formulations and
the physical proximity of discharge stacks to property boundaries.
LEA investigated the process operations and formulation requirements
to evaluate the allowable limits and manufacturing flexibility
permitted under the regulations. We prepared a BACT and LEAR analysis
as supporting documentation for the emission permit application,
which was submitted to the DEP. |
